Stir Krazy Kids Cooking Workshops teach kids from ages 5 -12 years how to cook delicious and nutritious food, whilst trying different cuisine and making new friends along the way. We think it’s cool to care about what goes into your body, and even better if they enjoy making it! Workshops run across various dates in August.

National Portrait Gallery| London
Usually available on weekends only, National Portrait Gallery’s Family Activity Base is running throughout the summer holidays to keep the kids creatively occupied. Pick up free resources and drawing materials between 11am – 4pm and check signage on the day for details. It’s totally free and no ticket is required. For this and more activities check the website.
Charleton Fruit Farm| Scotland
Eating fresh fruit takes on a whole different meaning when you and the family go fruit picking at Charleton Fruit Farm, near Montrose. Hold off on eating all the delicious fruit you’ve picked if there’s going to be some serious trampoline testing happening in their play area afterwards (there’s also a sandpit!).
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park| London
Want to lose yourself and them for a whole day? Take yourselves off to the Olympic Park. There’s a whole host of activities to jump into – so many we know you’ll have to visit more than once. There’s Beach East; the UK’s largest urban beach – pack a picnic and head over as soon as the sun makes an appearance, the epic slide at the ArcelorMittal Orbit which can reach speeds of up to 18mph, swim in the world class Aquatic Centre, explore the park on a pedalo or play in one of the wonderful play areas across the park – climbing walls included. Plenty to keep both kids and adults happy!
Pick up a box of Lemon or Chocolate flavoured Muffin Mix for only £2.95 at your local Ikea and in three easy steps the kids will be on there way to a kitchen filled with the smell of freshly baked muffins. All they have to do is add hot water directly into the carton, shake and pour straight into muffin tins. Buy a variety of toppings and let them get creative! No muffin tin – pick one up for £8 whilst at the wonderful/distracting [delete as appropriate] Ikea.
Land and Wave| Dorset
Ofted registered Land and Wave Ltd have activities which include paddle boarding, kayaking, raft building and beach sports, plus woodland activities such as firelighting, archery and shelter building. Summer Kids Club is suitable for children aged 8 -14 years, book for five days or single days. Good to know: they also accept childcare vouchers.

If they’re interested in Freerunning or Parkour, head down to Fluidity Freerun, the UK’s largest bespoke indoor parkour and freerunning center. An incredible space with a range of open sessions, structured classes or courses on offer to ensure you’ll surely find something that suits.
Alice in Wonderland, The Grosvenor Open Air Theatre| Chester and London
The Grosvenor will be staging Alice matinees in the wonderful outdoors, tickets start from £18.50 with children under 12 attending for free and theatre-goers welcome to arrive an hour early to tuck into their picnics. Londoners will also have the opportunity to follow the white rabbit at shows staged by children’s theatre company Sixteen Feet Productions across a number of beautiful old walled gardens in parks in south and west London. Various dates from 22 July – 20 August.
