We support charities close to our hearts by giving 10% of our profits to organisations that were a big part of the reason we started Cardology in the first place or have become very important to us over the past few years.
In this fast-paced digital world, it is getting harder to have meaningful connections, especially for the older generation who seem to be getting left behind. This is a huge reason why we started Cardology and in our own small way, try and help hold onto this wonderful British culture of sending cards and connecting with loved ones, which is so special to the UK. With loneliness becoming an epidemic, Age UK recently reported that approximately 225,000 older people often go a whole week without speaking to anyone. We thought that Age UK was the perfect charity to support whose vision aligns with our own.
LOVER COMMUNITY TRUST – HOME OF THE LOVER VALENTINE POST
The village of Lover is in the county of Wiltshire, nestled within the New Forest National Park.
For decades, people would travel from all over the world to send their love letters from the village Post Office, to ensure their mail was marked with the special romantic cachet stamp. The tradition sadly ended in 2008 when the post office closed.
Like many villages, suffering in modern times, it had seen its post office, shop, pub and former primary school close over time. Despite this, the village community was passionate about ensuring this romantic village continues to thrive in todays day and age and are taking action to bring back it’s community spirit.
The Lover Community Trust decided to re-instate this wonderful service after nine long lost years, to raise money for their community to build new facilities for young children, families, professionals and retired people within the parish.
8,000 limited edition iconic Valentine cards were offered over Valentine’s Day to write hand-written messages and stamped with the cachet stamp, with Cardology being picked as one of the key card suppliers for this initiative. We were thrilled to be part of such a wonderful initiative!
